About May May
Little May-May came into the world at the Sanctuary on 12 August, 2019. Her journey began with a unique twist, as she was unfortunately rejected by her mother even before fully emerging from the amniotic sac. As May-May’s mother grew more distressed, Sandy swiftly intervened, gently wrapping her in a towel, ensuring the newborn May-May’s safety and well-being. A vet check when she was only a week old revealed a heart murmur, which is thought to be the reason why her mother rejected her.
The following weeks were marked with around-the-clock care and love.
Sandy took on the role of May-May’s surrogate mother, bottle-feeding her every hour to ensure her nourishment and growth. For the first four weeks, May-May spent her nights in the bathroom where she slept under the care of Sandy. Throughout the day, May-May and Queenie, her loyal canine friend, embarked on adventures together, and car rides were a regular part of her escapades.
Now, May-May is all grown up (as grown up as you can be for a tiny donkey!), but unconventional experiences still seem to be the norm, and her curiosity knows no bounds. With a fearless spirit, May-May displays a zest for life that captivates everyone around her.
Her spirited nature doesn't go unnoticed, and she loves to be the centre of attention.
May-May’s cheeky demeanour often leads her on hilarious and mischievous escapades. Fearlessness is her trademark, driving her to explore the world around her with unbridled curiosity. This boldness and willingness to embrace the unknown endears her to those who have the pleasure of knowing her.
